LOL Team Composition

League of Legends (LoL) is a multiplayer online battle arena video game developed and published by Riot Games. It was released at October 27, 2009. In the game, players assume the role of a character, called a 'champion', with unique abilities, battling with other player-controlled champions, in the form of 5 vs 5. There are 127 champions to select in the league right now and new champions are coming out over time. The way for the victory is to kill the enemy nexus, which is extremely hard to reach single handedly.(It still happens sometimes though) Therefore, to win a game, we cannot ignore the significance of team composition, on the basis of which we can carry out big plays and team engagements.

This year is the 5th season since LoL released. After enormous practices and matches from various kinds of players so far, the most efficient and effective team composition for the victory is basically fixed. There are three lanes in the match map, which is called Summoner's Rift. And mainly players are distributed like:
Top lane: One of players in the team will go to top lane. Top lane player can obtain solo experience and gold. And top lane can cover only the top half of the map so usually they can't support their teammates timely if they fight at some random points in the map. Therefore, farming is the task above all for a top lane player. They will mostly pick some tanky champions or late game champions. After several minutes of farming, they're gonna save the team in the team fights.

Jungle: There are many neutral monsters in Summoner's Rift who will provide experience and gold. To make the use of these resources, one of the players will go to farm in the jungle, as a 'Jungler'. As monsters spread all over the map and outside of the players' sights. Junglers are always moving in the mist of war and not seeable by the enemy team. Using this condition, junglers can initiate attacks along with teammates in lane unexpectedly.
Mid lane: One of the players will go to farm in mid lane. Mid lane players can cover almost the whole map so they have to support other teammates once a fight happens near them. Mid lane players will mostly pick some mages or assassins with strong burst in damage in order to win small-scale fights in the early game, which can help capture advantages for the team and win the game finally.
AD Carry: One of the players will go AD Carry, standing for Attack Damage Carry. As its name suggests, AD Carry players use champions who deal damage by basic attacks. There are a number of shooters in the league who use their basic attacks to smash enemy team but are very weak at defense and easy to kill. AD Carry goes in bottom lane and takes the golds to reach necessary item builds. Then they can really carry the game in the team fights as if they make themselves in a safe position.
Support: As we mentioned before, AD Carries are weak at defense and easy to kill so they need someone to protect them. The last one in the team will go as 'Support' in the game, also going in bottom lane but they don't take any gold. The only task of them is to protect AD Carry, ensuring he is farming safely and eliminate the threatens from junglers.
Every player plays a key role in a game. A good team composition should consist of tanks, damage dealers (including physical damage and magic damage) and supports. A good player should be multi-functional and help the team frequently. Only with the joint efforts from all the teammates can a team acquire the victory ultimately.
